# opening my about file... here's a quick intro ↓
I'm Joshua Stoltz, a web designer and developer based in Austin, MN. I run Stoltz Web Design,
where I hand-code every site from scratch — no page builders, no bloated templates, just clean
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript built specifically for each client.
I'm currently completing my AAS in Web Development at Riverland Community College (expected May 2027),
and I'm a Phi Theta Kappa honors member. While I'm still in school, I'm already building real sites
for real Minnesota small businesses — which means you get someone who's actively learning the latest
best practices and genuinely invested in getting your project right.
When I'm not coding, I'm usually deep into game development or exploring Unity/XR projects — that
same problem-solving mindset carries straight into how I approach building websites.
Every site starts from a blank canvas in Figma — no page builders, no cookie-cutter themes. Your business gets a look that's actually yours.

Every business is different. Things like online booking, extra pages, or help writing
your website's text can change the price. Before any work starts, you'll get a
fixed quote in writing, so you'll know the full cost up front.
No hourly billing, no surprise invoices.
New to hiring a web designer? Here are the questions people ask me most.
01How much does a website cost?
One-page sites start at $600 and multi-page sites (up to 5 pages) start at $1,500. Before any work begins you get a fixed quote in writing, so you know the full cost up front. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices. See full pricing.
02How long does it take to build my site?
Most one-page sites take about 2–3 weeks, and multi-page sites about 4–6 weeks. The biggest factor is how quickly I get your photos, logo and text. Once I have those, things move fast. You'll get a timeline with your quote.
03What do I need to give you?
Your logo (if you have one), photos of your work or business, and the basics: what you offer, where you serve, and how customers can reach you. The intake form walks you through all of it. If you'd like help writing your website's text, I can quote that too.
04Are there monthly fees?
No platform fees. You're not locked into Wix or Squarespace. The optional Care Plan is $50/month and covers hosting, security, monthly check-ups and small updates. If you skip it, your only ongoing cost is your domain name, usually around $15–20 a year.
05Can I update the website myself?
Every site is hand-coded, which keeps it fast and secure, but it doesn't come with a drag-and-drop editor. Most owners just send me a quick message instead: new hours, prices, photos or a menu change are included in the Care Plan. Bigger changes get a quick quote.
06Do I own my website?
Yes. Once the project is paid in full, the site and its files are yours, and your domain is registered in your name. If you ever want to move on, I'll hand everything over.
07Will my site show up on Google?
Every site is built with the Google basics: proper page titles, descriptions, fast load times and mobile-friendly layouts, so people searching for your business can find you. Nobody can honestly guarantee a #1 ranking, but a clean, fast site gives you a strong start.
08How does payment work?
A 50% deposit reserves your spot and starts the design. The remaining 50% is due when you approve the finished site, before it goes live. Everything is laid out in your written quote first, so there are no surprises.
09You're still in school. Is that a problem?
I'm finishing my AAS in Web Development at Riverland Community College and already building sites for Minnesota businesses like Z&M Services and SEMSCA. You work directly with me from first call to launch, and I only take on a few projects at a time so each one gets full attention.
